FAQ'S - ANSWER TO VEHICLE DONATION QUESTIONS Q: When will I receive a receipt for the tax filing purposes for the vehicle I donated? A: At time of pickup you will receive a temporary receipt describing you donated your vehicle to Living Proof Charities & Ministry. Within 30 days you will receive a receipt stating the final sale price of your vehicle. Q: What are the tax benefits of donating a vehicle? A: The government allows you to deduct the amount of the vehicles fair market value from the amount you would be taxed, resulting in lower taxes for you. Consult with your accountant for additional advice if needed. Q: What type of vehicle can be donated? A: Any vehicle with title. Any vehicle without title if the vehicle is 10 calendar years old or older. Q: What if my vehicle isn't running or wrecked? A: No problem, we accept any vehicle in any condition. Q: How long will it take you to pick up my vehicle donation? A: Upon receiving online or by phone your vehicle donation form your vehicle will be picked up within 24 to 48 hours excluding Sundays. Q: Will I be charged any fees? A: No, the whole process and tow is absolutely free. ANSWERS TO DOCUMENT/REGISTRATION/TITLE QUESTIONS Q: How do I transfer my title? A: Please allow our trained staff and our tow truck personnel to assist you in properly signing the title over. All that is required is signature of seller. Q: What documents do I need to donate a car to charity? A: The actual title is always best, if the vehicle is 10 years older older than no title is needed. Q: How do I know my title is a clear, transferable title? A: The title will be registered with your name on the front. Q: My name has changed since the car has been titled. How do I sign? A: Use the name on the title when signing. Q: My title is signed over to someone else. Can I cross it off and write in my name? A: No. We have a affidavit form from the tag office that needs to be signed. Q: There are two people listed on the title, do both of us need to sign? A: Yes both parties need to sign. Q: The title is in a deceased persons name, how do I complete the transfer of the title? A: You can only sign if you have an appointed beneficiary or power of attorney. (A copy of either of those forms will be requested.) Q: What is the title is lost? A: You can obtain a duplicate title at any tag office in the state which the vehicle is registered. DETERMINE MY VEHICLES VALUE QUESTIONS Q: How do I determine the value of my vehicle? (A): Vehicles valued at $5,000 will need to be appraised by a qualified appraiser therefore the appraised amount will be your deduction. (B): Vehicles valued at $500 or less typically junk, or vehicles will receive a fair market value up to $500 deduction. (C): Vehicles valued over $500 will receive a fair market value up to 5,000 of the actual price. (D): Repairable vehicles apply A or C then deduct repairs, towing, and or detail fee.
